PKF has been in the timber business since the 1980s and has grown to become, we believe, one of the largest suppliers of doors in the UK and Ireland.

Initially PKF provided a European marketing service for door manufacturers in Indonesia, then developed an independent customer base with manufacturing in a number of countries.

Eventually, to give customers the most reliable service, PKF invested in manufacturing units:

• giving customers priority when increasing restrictions on logging and can put pressure on sourcing timber
• giving customers priority over resources for new product research and development
• giving customers priority to ensure newly launched products have production capacity in the manufacturing schedule.

Our original business in external doors expanded to other product ranges in both traditional and contemporary designs and now includes: interior doors . flooring . lippings . beading . ironmongery . staircase components & handrails . mouldings. windowboards . decking

PKF supports a worldwide customer base in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Holland, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, China, Indonesia, United States and Canada. Clients are mainly large timber distributors but PKF also supplies some UK timber manufacturers. This enables these UK companies to extend their own portfolio cost effectively by adding PKF products.

As the breadth and depth of its timber expertise has developed over many years, PKF has come to provide a comprehensive service which is tailored to customer requirements. It can include:

• sourcing and supplying raw timber from the USA, Germany, Malaysia, Indonesia and China
• taking a client.s initial product design through to technical specification
• developing samples for product testing and trade exhibitions
• designing and printing packaging so products are shipped 'display ready'
• quality control checks throughout production and shipment
• supporting customers with scheduling information and after sales service

To further give customers reliable quality and delivery:

• our manufacturing investment was extended to China
• complementary sources of production were identified in Vietnam to supplement our own production units
• quality control personnel were set up to make independent checks during manufacture and prior to shipment. Personnel are based in Indonesia, China and Vietnam and cover the whole region.

Having quality production facilities can go so far, but having reliable timber supplies is also important. With increasing government controls over logging, PKF wanted to offer more guaranteed supply for its customers. PKF decided to get involved higher up the chain and take an active part in buying logs from reputable sources and shipping them to its manufacturing units. This has the added benefit of ensuring compliance with quotas and sources of timber around the world. It all adds up to PKF providing reliable products and a fully dependable supply chain for its customers.

Having established manufacturing units and quality control offices in Indonesia and China, PKF is well placed to manage shipments efficiently from start to finish.
