Care for the environment
Our manufacturing units have always sourced timber responsibly and we have completed the FSC chain of custody certification.
- Indonesian timber is from factory owned and managed plantations and not from natural forests
- Indonesian timber also includes government owned plantations and so complies with logging quotas
- Indonesian manufacturing units plant 5 million seedlings each year
- European timber is sourced from the largest reputable suppliers who work within government controls over logging quotas
- China manufacturing units are tightly controlled by government restrictions on the amount of locally grown timber which can be used. As a result PKF became involved in sourcing approved supplementary raw timber in Europe and the USA for shipment to China.
- Vietnam manufacturing unit uses a furniture grade infrastructure which allows us to introduce .modern designs..
- All manufacturing units now shipping FSC products.
In Indonesia the core material comes from fast growing Albizia. It is typically ready for harvesting in just 5 to 8 years. This material is light yet strong and a good substitute for hardwood core.
Glue and protective coatings which are used when applying luxurious veneers to Albizia core are environmentally friendly as they conform to European standard E-1.
